About MyExp.org
The MyExp story
The premise behind MyExp is to have a place that is "owned" and managed by a community of individuals with first hand experiences, a place that offers an abundance of valuable information from personal experiences that is free of commercial interest. Information that is about what was found to be, not what is promised to be.
Inspired by the belief that everyone has at least one life experience that can be of tremendous value to another, that the voluntary sharing of personal experience free of commercial interest is real power that belongs to everyone, and driven by the knowledge that the internet in this new era of exploding technology makes possible such sharing between ordinary people all over the world, the founder of myexp.org set out to build a web site where personal life experience can be freely shared among anyone in the world with internet access.
MyExperience started as a pilot pet project for a small social network of friends, and soon grew as more people discovered the site, used it enthusiastically and suggested enhancements and additions to what is now known as MyExp.org.
Community guarded
MyExp is a community based site that exercises a level of democracy amongst its community of users through equally distributed power to guard the site against abuse and ensure that the quality, integrity and nature of the site are what the majority of MyExp users want them to be.
This guarding power is given via the Red Flagging option. Everyone believing that a Story at MyExp is a commercial advertising, writing of obscenity, hate, discrimination or any other illegal or immoral matter, can Red Flag the story. Red flags show at the top of the story for all to see, and also serve as triggers for MyExp to review the flagged story with consideration for deletion. For more on Red Flagging, please read the Orientation page.
